Checking for honey and suspicious activity on Sunday, August 6, 2017.
Checking the more aggressive of the two hives. Looking for the queen and learning another important lesson about bee stings.
Maintenance on the nuc hive to check for mites and swarming behavior.. oh, and honey.. .checking for honey ;)

Looking to see if the girls have filled out the frames in the Nuc hive this past weekend.
We have a few neighbors who misunderstand beekeeping. In order to make them feel more comfortable with the process, we are moving the more active nuc a few feet to some tree cover. It's all about compromise when you are saving the bees!

I added the super to the nuc and ran out of battery while I was doing it. So here's the end result.

The nuc (or nucleus colony) is a previously established hive, equipped with queen and everything. The video quality is a little degraded as I get a better, less jarring camera setup.

Getting the nuc at Swan's Honey and Apiary, located in Albion Maine.

Try driving for an hour and a half with a box of bees and their loose counterparts!

After setting up the nuc, I wanted to give everyone a closer look.
