Wait, you can make bee-r?
Today we come to you with some very exciting news. Our Deering Dark Fall ‘19 harvest honey is going to be used to make a limited batch beer with!!
Anyone who’s familiar with the craft beer scene in Portland, Maine has heard of Bissell Brothers Brewery. Their beers are only available in Maine and are sort of legendary (I have used their beer to barter with folks I work with as far down as Pennsylvania). They have purchased a stock pile of our honey to brew a special, small batch beer in their Portland location. We can’t tell you how excited we are that they were interested in OUR honey (boy does he work hard for it 😂)!!! If that weren’t enough, they are donating a chunk of cash to a non-profit that helps to keep honeybees thriving!
In preparation for this small batch, a few folks from Bissell Brothers came to the apiary to check out the Summer ‘19 and Deering Dark Fall ‘19 harvested honeys.
They also joined us in the backyard to check out the hives and some hive work. The boxing beekeeper talked to them about how the bees winter and what we are doing to prep them for this winter. He also explained how we harvest and the life cycle of the bee.
The brew date of this beer is TODAY! Bissell Brothers will be offering this He Works Hard for the Honey limited edition brew on tap in their Thompsons Point location around mid October (sorry folks, you’ll have to come to Maine to try this fantastic beer - bonus: you can stop in and say hi at He Works Hard for the Honey apiary!).
If you want to keep in the loop with Bissell Brothers, sign up for their newsletter, or follow them on Instagram, Twitter and like them on Facebook. Who knows what this exciting news will bring? All we know is that you should get your honey, and get it now!!
Thanks for listening to me buzz!
