I want to start off by thanking everyone for your birthday wishes!  I was not expecting that since I've gotten off my own personal social media account! 

In this video, we’ll see if the ladies have given me a birthday present by accepting their new queen and releasing her from the cage she was added on.  It’s been about 5 days since we put her in. Typically, the release should only take 3 days, so we should definitely see her out of her case.

I am coming to you on this blogpost with my pride stinging (add bee emoji) a little bit. You know, I had thought I was just getting the hang of beekeeping and keeping the hives healthy.  We have gotten to the point where we need to requeen hive one, so I reached out to Phil Gaven at The Honey Exchange in Portland, Maine, and he got us a great queen to replace the aggressive one. 

Everything about beekeeping is humbling. It truly is like working with a wild animal, and although I’ve learned a great deal thus far, I have a long way to go before I would claim any mastery over beekeeping.
