Meet Chris Dennehy

Hey everyone, I'm Chris and I'm a new beekeeper in Portland, Maine. I grew up in a very urban area south of Boston, but always had an interest in the environment and how to have a positive impact on it. When I finally left Boston last year bees were not on my mind. I was concerned about declining populations, but just didn't know what to do. When the opportunity to have a garden came up, I tried to think about what would help...bees. With just a little bit of research I found The Honey Exchange just a few blocks away. I took a class this winter, ordered hives and colonies, and it's been off + running since. I've loved the experience of keeping bees. It's been more fun and more fascinating than I even realized it would be.

Chris is also an avid boxer. One could say he's a boxing beekeeper.

Living in Portland affords Chris and his wife the opportunity to get out and about to enjoy the local scene.

Chris doesn't just care about bees and the environment. His heart expands to anyone or anything in need.
