We have a split!

For our split, all I have done is taken the 5 frames from the old hive, and placed it into a five frame box (2 frames will hopefully be built out soon!).  The box has been placed about 8 to 10 feet away from hive 1.  The original queen from hive 1 is in the split, so the hope is that they are familiar with her and stay in the nuc to build resources and expand the colony.

The hope is that we will have several more splits over the course of the season.  The more bees we go into the winter with, the better our chances are of having surviving hives.
